English for Living

English for Living teaches participants to speak English. It is taught as an essential skill for living independently everyday at home and in the community.

Goals of the Program for class members include:

  1. Promoting participation & the feeling of inclusion by building supporting relationships between class members through mentoring practice and group excursions.
  2. Promoting awareness and pathways to access services available in Mount Druitt and Blacktown Local Government Area through guest presentations on topics or issues, for example Ausafety by the NSW Police, personal health by NSW Health, Money Matters  by Centrelink. Other matters include Mental Health and Domestic Violence Citizenship and changes in Australian Government policies and services.
  3. Building family history, connection and belonging –‘My Story’ – (voluntary participation) so participants can leave a record of their journey & genealogy for the families that succeed them.
